French DJ Faces Backlash, Files Legal Complaint

Paris, France: The DJ at the heart of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony controversy is taking legal action against online harassment. Barbara Butch, a prominent LGBTQ+ activist, has filed a complaint after receiving a barrage of threats and abuse following her performance.

The ceremony’s segment, featuring Butch and others, was met with widespread criticism, particularly from religious groups who saw it as a blasphemous reimagining of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.” Critics accused the performance of mocking Christian beliefs.

Despite the artistic director’s claims that the scene was not inspired by the famous painting, the backlash intensified, targeting Butch in particular. The DJ, known for her outspoken views, has vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for the online abuse.

French authorities have confirmed receiving the complaint and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
